• Test the thermostat. Replace batteries, and check settings/programming for proper operation.

• Inspect and replace air filters.

• Evaluate proper airflow and check that the vents are open, clean, and grills are in good condition.

• Visually inspect the interior condition of equipment. Inspect and clean the air filter box if necessary. Remove access covers and visually inspect the interior of furnace for damaged components, cracking, water marks, etc.

• Check the heater/furnace gas connections and exhaust systems.

• Check the condensate drain, drip pans, and pump (if applicable).

• Inspect all exhaust fans on premises, including kitchen and bathroom. Remove covers and inspect the interior components. Clean out dust and grime buildup.

• Ensure that exhaust fans are functioning properly by testing timers/switches and inspecting the exterior vents to ensure they are not clogged and covers are in good condition.

• Inspect the dryer vent connections and exterior vent to ensure it is venting properly and that the covers are in good condition. Remove and lint buildup necessary.
