JLG Vertical Mast DSPi M: Daily Walk-Around Inspection

As with all heavy equipment, it’s important to inspect and maintain your and boom lifts to ensure they’re running efficiently and improving your productivity. This checklist will help you in inspecting these machines at the start of every day, at shift changes and any time a new operator takes over the machine.

Drive and Caster Wheels

Check for any debris stuck to or around wheels.

Base Frame

No visible damage; components properly secured, no loose wires dangling below base; bubble level in place and functioning properly.

Battery/Battery Charger Installation

Battery cables; no corrosion.

Motor/Pump/Reservoir Unit

All properly secured, no visible damage, no evidence of hydraulic leaks. Check that hydraulic reservoir fluid level is filled to the "Fill to Line" mark on the side of the reservoir.

Manual Descent Control Valve

Properly secured, no loose or missing parts, no visible damage.

Ground Control Station

Main power selector switch operable; placards secure and legible; emergency stop switch operates properly.

Mast Assembly

Mast sections; slide pads; mast chains; sequencing cables; platform control and power cables (on side of mast); power cables properly tensioned and seated in sheaves; cable sheaves rotating freely.

Platform Control Console

Platform control; placards secure and legible; emergency stop switch reset for operation; Control marking eligible.

Platform Assembly and Gate

Quick-Change platform mounting and mounting pins; DVSP - platform fasteners; platform railings; entry bar or gate in proper working order.
