Inspection List

• Check exposed and exterior pipes for signs of freezing.

• Insulate and seal cracks and openings around exposed pipes.

• Look for signs of excess moisture and dry the area, as well as respond to mold or mildew that may have formed.

• Check for cracks and inefficiencies in your heating systems.

• Calibrate thermostats on HVAC systems and make sure they are working properly.

• Monitor snow piles and create a plan to remove it should it pose hazardous obstacles.

• Clean and replace wet floor mats in entryways and indoor walkways to reduce slick floors.

• Check for ice dams, large forming icicles, or snow buildup on eves which could cause damage or present hazards from falling.

• Winterize all lawncare equipment. Drain the fuel and run until carburetor is empty. Service equipment such as sharpening and balancing blades, checking air filters, oil, spark plug etc. Visually inspect for signs of wear or damage.

• Plug in heaters or place heaters in any crawl space or access that may be necessary to avoid freezing.

• Plug in or turn on any heat tape that is present on pipes or in gutters to avoid freezing.

• Fire up and inspect all snow removal equipment to get ready for the season. Reevaluate the snow removal program and make any changes necessary at this time.

• Turn off any exterior faucets that are not frost free. Shut down irrigation system and blow out the system for the season.

• Ensure deicer is stocked at the location and ready for the season.
