Tech Training WonderWorks MB

    Introduction

As a new technician you will undergo a minimum of 40 hours training. During that time you will spend a minimum of an 8 hour shift with either the tech manager, or assistant tech manager. The remainder of that training period you will be shadowing technicians or the assistant tech manager.

The first part of your training will be going over the operating, safety, and emergency response procedures associated with all manned exhibits (360 bike, Gyro, XD Theater, Coaster). This part of training will involve a hands-on portion as well as a written portion that you and Tech Manager or Assistant Tech Manager will sign off on, when you can successfully demonstrate proper handling of emergency situations (see codes located in the radio section) and can operate the rides safely.

The next section of training will deal with other emergency situations: fire alarm, power spike, etc.

There are 2 smaller lights on the back and 1 larger light. If one of the smaller lights are off then the larger one will also be off. This means one of your hanesses is not far enough down, ensure all harnesses are down and the larger of the 2 passengers are in the front. Check your lights again, if only the larger one is off then press the light as it is a button and will reset and come back on. If you still have problems call a tech.

      Fire Evacuation Procedures

A Code Red means that there is a fire located in the building somewhere. When a Code Red is called, all operations must stop; we turn our attention toward getting the guests, and ourselves, out of the building safely. Below are the fire alarm procedures for techs, please refer to the Fire evacuation procedure for a more detailed description per dept

Tech: Upon hearing a fire alarm sound, address these priorities immediately.

      Power spikes/outages, weather, security, medical

Prioritization - Triage of the work load

Due to the extreme volume and diversity of issues the tech department addresses, it is important you prioritize all projects sensibly and manage your time well. Here is a guideline for prioritization.

        Radios

Radios are our primary way to communicate within the building. Sometimes it can be difficult to hear communication because the environment is loud with screaming kids, rides, music, etc. Please use these guidelines to communicate effectively with as little radio traffic as possible.
