A clean-cut on your tape reduces tension and prevents tape breakage.
Check the belts and chains for excessive tension or wear.
Adjust the idlers.
Replace the belts as necessary.
Inspect the cam followers for excessive wear.
Replace the worn cam followers.
Check the fasteners (bolts, screws, etc) for secureness.
Tighten any loose fasteners.
Check sensors for dust and misalignment.
Check the cutting knife on the tape head.
Replace as described in the tape head manufacturer's manual.
Check the rubber applying rollers for wear.
Replace as described in the tape head manufacturer's manual.
