Vehicle Inspection Checklist

Interior:

Check the Horn.
Inspect the Seatbelt for damage or fraying. Ensure all the clasp operate as intended.
Check the seats for damage or fraying.
Check for any other visible damage.

Lights:

Inspect head lights to ensure they are functioning as intended.
Check any work lights to ensure they are functioning as intended.
Make sure the tail lights are in good working order.
Test the brake lights.

Tires:

Inspect the condition of the tires. Look for signs of uneven wear such as, excessive wear on the inside or outside edge.
Check the air pressure in each tire, and ensure they are properly inflated.
If there are tracks then inspect the tracks for condition. Look for signs of uneven wear or cuts.

Under the Hood:

Check the oil level and the condition of the oil. Top off if necessary.
Check the level of the brake fluid. Top off if necessary.
Check the windshield washer fluid levels. Check the coolant levels and conditions. (Never do this after the vehicle has been running long enough to get it hot) Top off if necessary.
Check the transmission fluid level. Top off if necessary.
Visually inspect the battery for any signs of corrosion, bulging, leaking, or other abnormal wear and tear.
Visually inspect all hoses for any signs of leaking, cracking, bulging, or excessive wear and tear.
Visually inspect the belts for signs of cracking or fraying. Ensure they are in good condition.
Check the air filter and make sure it is in good working order.

Windows:

Visually inspect the windshield for cracking or chips that need to be repaired.
Visually inspect the rear and side windows for any signs of damage that need to be repaired.
Inspect any windshield wipers and make sure they are in good working order.

Doors:

Visually inspect all doors for any signs of damage.
Check that all doors are in good working order. Opening and closing as they should.
If any latches, hydraulic cylinders, or safety devices are on the doors, make sure they are all working properly.

Brakes:

Check the Brakes.

Test the Emergency Brakes.
