A well-maintained and well-placed fire extinguisher ensures that they are undamaged, no blockage in the hose and that people can read operational instructions.

    Types of portable fire extinguishers you can find at our facilities:

      Inspecting a Fire Extinguisher

      1. Serial Number on FE matches asset information.

      • Pass

      • Fail

      2. Fire extinguishers cannot be blocked. Unblock if you can.

      3. They must be on their wall mount. Not on the floor or any other place.

      4. Check that the pin is in place and the retaining tie (seal) is there.

      5. Inspect labels to ensure they are legible.

      6. If there is a gauge on it, it should be in the green.

      7. Ensure the hose is intact with no cracks or leaks. And the retaining strap or clip is intact.

      8. Ensure the nozzle is not clogged.

      9. Check that the connection between the nose and the cylinder is secure.

      10. Check that there are no dents or corrosion or rust on the cylinder.

      11. Initial and date the inspection tag.
