Water Heater LOTO Procedure: Maintenance Plumbing

This Lock out/Tag Out procedures establish the minimum requirements for lockout/tagout (LO/TO) on equipment that is being serviced or maintained. This procedure must be followed in order to properly stop equipment, disconnect it from any sources of potentially hazardous energy, and prevent those sources from being reconnected during the work.

    LOCKOUT TAGOUT SEQUENCE

    Notify Employees

    Notify affected employees of LOTO activity:

    Equipment Shutdown

    Shut down water heater by normal stopping procedure.

    Isolate Energy

    Disconnect each energy source:

    Lockout Energy

    Dissipate Energy

    Dissipate or restrain residual or stored energy.

    Verify Isolation

    Perform work

    RESTORE EQUIPMENT TO SERVICE SEQUENCE

    Clear Work Area

    Verify Controls

    Remove Lockout

    Notify Employees
