NGE100B Power Supply Procedure
This procedure outlines the safe and efficient operation of the R&S®NGE100B Power Supply, including initial setup, channel selection, voltage and current adjustments, protection features, and advanced functionality such as remote control.
Ensure that the mains voltage of the power supply matches the laboratory mains voltage (115V or 230V). Ensure the workspace is dry and free from dust and humidity. Do not operate near flammable materials or in areas with explosive potential. Only trained personnel should operate the power supply. Always use insulated wires to avoid electrical shock. Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
Basic Operation
Press the Power button on the front panel. Wait for the unit to boot up and display channel statuses.
Press the desired channel button (Ch 1, Ch 2, or Ch 3). Use the rotary knob to adjust voltage and current settings for the selected channel.
Press the Voltage or Current key to switch to setting mode. Adjust the voltage (up to 32V per channel) and current (up to 3A per channel) using the rotary knob.
Press the Output button to enable power to the connected DUT. The output status will turn green (for constant voltage mode) or red (for constant current mode).
Advanced Features:
Activate the electronic fuse (OCP) for each channel to prevent overcurrent. The fuse is linked with other channels using the FuseLink function. If the fuse trips, the output channel will shut down automatically.
Configure maximum voltage and power limits via the Menu options. If limits are exceeded, the channel shuts down automatically, displaying protection codes like OVP (Overvoltage Protection) or OPP (Overpower Protection).
For higher currents, connect channels in parallel (up to 6A for two channels, 9A for three channels). For higher voltages, connect channels in series (up to 96V for three channels).
USB Connection: Connect via the USB port for local control through PC software. LAN/WLAN (Optional): If equipped, use the LAN or WLAN options for remote control via a web browser.
Switch off all active channels by pressing the Output button. Press the Power button on the front panel to turn off the unit.
If the device shows errors such as OVP or OCP, check the connections, reduce voltage or current settings, and reset the affected channels. For more information refer to manual
