This pre-operation inspections should only be used as a way to stay on top of typical wear and tear that may lead to required maintenance. Without inspections and maintenance, equipment failures can have a major effect on business costs, cause unscheduled outages and most importantly, could cause major and possibly deadly safety hazards.

This pre-operation inspections should only be used as a way to stay on top of typical wear and tear that may lead to required maintenance. Without inspections and maintenance, equipment failures can have a major effect on business costs, cause unscheduled outages and most importantly, could cause major and possibly deadly safety hazards.
Safety procedure to use when checking include:
Crankcase oil
Coolant
Fuel level/DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid)
Tire inflation pressure
Hydraulic oil and Transmission Fluid
Key point: Operators should check operator’s manual for location of dipsticks and or reservoirs. The locations vary on different makes and models of tractors. Use an actual operator’s manual and tractor to demonstrate these tasks.
Check engine and cab air filters
Clean windows, lights, reflectors, and SMV emblem
Replace light bulbs as needed
Lubricate grease zerks as needed
Replace wiper blades as needed
Replace PTO master shield
