This inspection checklist will help you increase safety and compliance. Road problems will be detected and receiving maintenance attention before they escalate into costlier issues and unsafe roads.
General Road Construction Site Inspection Checks
Contractor has all necessary permits to work in road where applicable, i.e. Construction Permit, Insurance, Bonding etc. available
Safety to public considered: (barricades, covered walkways, etc. provided)
Barricades available around excavations in street.
Barricades available around stockpiled materials in street.
Adequate detour signs to get the public through or around the construction area.
Adequate channelization for vehicular and pedestrian traffic
Buffer area provided between the public and work area.
Adequate separation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic from one another.
Streets clear of mud and debris.
Dust control provided.
Contractor not using street to store equipment and materials unnecessarily.
Clean-up in street closely following the work daily basis.
Clean-up in easement areas closely following the work.
Driveway accesses being maintained or alternate arrangements for access made where necessary.
Photographs taken in all easement areas prior to construction.
Photographs taken in all developed areas prior to construction (boulevard landscaping, asphalt, etc.)
Existing traffic signs unobstructed by equipment, materials, etc.
