JLG BOOM LIFTS 601S: Function Check

From the ground control console with no load in the platform:

• Check that all guards protecting the switches or locks are in place;

• Operate all functions stop when the function switch is released.

• Operate all functions and check all limiting and cut-out switches to ensure proper operation.

• Check auxiliary power and ensure proper operation.

From the platform control console:

• Ensure the control console is firmly secured in the proper location.

• Check all guards protecting the switches or locks are in place.

• Ensure all machine functions are disabled when the Emergency Stop Button is pushed in.

• Operate all functions and check all limiting and cut-out switches to ensure proper operation.

With the platform in the stowed position:

• Drive the machine on a grade, not to exceed the rated gradability, and stop to ensure the brakes hold.

• Check that the tilt indicator is illuminated to ensure proper operation.

Place the machine in Transport Mode. Ensure machine is positioned in a smooth, firm surface and drive machine with boom elevated beyond 8 horizontal. Ensure drive speed is reduced while operating.

Check the elevation limit and boom angle switches as follows:

• Make sure the boom is fully lowered and retracted.

• Verify the capacity indicator starts with the 1000 lb (450kg) light on. Raise the boom and verify the capacity indicator changes to the 500 lb (230kg) light.

Check capacity limit and boom length switches as follows:

• Make sure the boom is fully lowered and retracted.

• Raise boom to horizontal.

• Verify the capacity indicator starts with 1000 lb (450kg) light on. Telescope the boom out and verify the capacity indicator changes to the 500 lb (230 kg) light.

• Retract the boom and verify the capacity indicator changes to 1000 lb (450kg) light.
