Greasing of main booster pumps

1. Safety Precautions

• 1.1 Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety goggles, ear protection and protective clothing.

2. Tools Needed

• 2.1 Grease gun

• 2.2 High-quality grease suitable for the pump's specifications

• 2.3 Clean rags or towels

3. Preparation

• 3.1 Locate the grease nipple (1 for the pump and 1 for the motor in each booster pump).

• 3.2 Clean the grease nipple using a clean rag to remove any dirt, debris, or old grease.

4. Greasing Procedure

• 4.1 Attach the appropriate grease gun nozzle to the grease nipple on the booster pump.

• 4.2 Pump the grease gun handle to inject the recommended amount of grease into the fitting (2 pumps at least).

• 4.3 Monitor the grease fitting for signs of new grease emerging, indicating that the old grease has been displaced and the bearing or moving part is adequately lubricated.

• 4.4 Remove the grease gun carefully and wipe off any excess grease from the fitting and surrounding area using a clean rag.

• 4.5 Repeat the greasing process for all 3 main booster pumps.

5. Operational Check

• 5.1 Monitor main booster pump's operation to ensure it functions smoothly without any unusual noises, vibrations, or performance issues.

• 5.2 Check for any leaks around the grease fittings or other parts of the pump and address them immediately if detected.

6. Cleanup

• 6.1 Clean and store the grease gun and other tools used for greasing in a designated area.

• 6.2 Dispose of any used rags or materials properly, following environmental regulations and guidelines.
