RO Pre-filter Replacement

Prepare for maintenance activity

Remove 2 pre filters from stock - Pentek DGD-2501-20 (25-micron pre-filter; 1-mircon filter)
Dow Corning high vacuum grease
Hydrogen peroxide mixture for disinfecting
Kimtech wipes for cleaning
Wet vacuum and mop for cleaning up water spills
Start MaintainX work order

Manually force RO tanks to fill to the top by putting skid into manual mode

Once tanks are full power turn off RO skid (at RO main switch)

Close HV1081 and HV1071 (inlet to RO pre-filters and outlet to RO storage)

Don nitrile gloves before starting work on any wet components

Release pressure from prefilters by pressing red button on top of both filters - Water will drain out on to the floor

Using the pre-filter housing tool loosen both pre-filters

Place a water pail below one pre-filter and unscrew it completely to remove it - Catching as much water in pail as possible

Bring the pre-filter to the DI plant wet bench and dump remaining water out - Remove old pre-filter and set aside to dry and dispose of

Remove O-ring from the filter housing and clean with RO water and peroxide - Set aside on clean Kimwipe in preparation for lubrication

Rinse out the filter housing with RO water and dump until considered clean

Spray peroxide mixture in the housing and wipe down inside using Kimwipes - This should be be done until the wipes come out clean Note - While cleaning the housing some water peroxide solution may get on to your arms. Rinse your arms thourougly following cleaning to remove any splashes of peroxide that may have got onto your skin

Rinse off with RO water from spray gun following cleaning and then dry

Repeat above steps for the second RO prefilter

Lubricate clean O-rings and reinstall them into the housings

Install the new PenTek filters in housing - Ensure the filter center hold fits over the pin in the bottom of the filter housing

Reinstall both filter housings - Snug with filter housing wrench slightly

Open HV1081 and HV1071 slowly (inlet to RO pre-filters and outlet to RO storage)

Bleed air from filter housings by pressing red button on top of housings until no more air escapes and only water comes out of the housing

Dry filter housings to ensure leaks can be found when system is turned on

Turn RO skid power on and ensure it is set in "auto"

When RO skid powers on monitor the filter housings for any leaks that appear

If no leaks are present the system is good - If leaks are found corrective actions will be required

Monitor the system for one or two cycles to ensure no leaks are present, pressures look normal, and water quality values look good
