Monthly Overhead Crane Inspection - Rope Jib Crane

Certain items require daily pre-shift examinations, while others necessitate monthly inspections by certified crane inspectors. The goal is to identify and address maladjustments, system deterioration, broken hooks, defective wire rope reeving systems, faulty runways/wheels, and general wear and tear of components.

    Check that the crane is not tagged with an out-of-order sign

    Control Device - Test run all the motions and ensure they are correct with the controls

    Brakes - Ensure all motions do not have excessive drift and the stopping distance is normal

    Hook - Check for damage, cracks, nicks, gouges and deformations of the throat opening. Check the wear on the saddle or load bearing point, and twist. Refer to the manufacturers manual for wear limits.

    Hook Latch- If hook latch is required, check for proper operation.

    Wire Rope - Check for broken wires, broken stands, kinks, and any deformation or damage to the rope structure.

    Reeving - Check that the wire rope is properly reeved and that rope parts are not twisted about each other

    Limit Switches - Check the upper limit device by ensuring that the device stops the lifting motion before striking any part of the hoist

    Oil Leakage - Look for any sign of oil leakage on the crane and on the floor beneath the crane.
