Horizontal Clamps and Brakes Servicing Procedure

Health and Safety

• LOTO the main circuit breakers ( 480 V , 120V)

• LOTO the main inlet valve and drain the remaining air using the drain valve (turn the handle until 45 degrees and let all the air get out)

• PPE required

• Check the needed tools compliance

Brakes component change

• Open the 02 brake covers ,dissemble the plate on the HC 03 to have the needed space while servicing the HC3 brake

• Start by loosening the double 24mm half nuts, using a double half wrench keys 24mm, and for the horizontal clamp 03 use a ratchet 24mm ( because you can not reach behind the vertical tower)

• Open all the nuts locking the clamp with the plates using 10 and 13mm wrenches

• Disconnect all the air hoses from the connection valves/ flow control valves if there is any (you can put some marks to avoid confusion when putting back)

• Start dissembling the components of the brakes after taking the HC cylinder and the brake cylinder totally out

• Change all the parts on the brakes (bushing ,springs, disc, thread rod, new bolts, new nuts, brake pad)

• Insure all the parts are back in place according to the drawing, with a decent tightening to avoid any loose leading to a failure while producing

• Change the 04 house bearing or the plastic sleeve inside (Horizontal clamp 01&02)

• Before putting back in place you can tighten a little bit the 19mm nut on the brake pad to make some pressure on the spring in order to have some space on the shaft of the HC cylinder when putting back and locking it on the plate with the double half nut 24mm

• For the HC3 you have to hold the vertical tower back to have that needed space when locking the shaft of the cylinder to the VC02 tower

• Connect all the air hoses on their dedicated valves (Assess if there is any leak)

• Once the HC are in place and tight you can start adjusting the brakes by loosening and tightening the double half nuts on the thread rod 19mm,(adjustments are to be performed on a straight piece of wood and by using the air valve to extend and lock the cylinder ,and to apply and lock the brakes to make sure they are not loose not too tight just in the middle)
