1 Ton Crane - Bar Stock

Step 1. Ensure you are wearing the proper PPE (safety glasses, steel toe footwear, and a hard hat) and that the warning notice is visible in the sign off pouch. Verify that the appropriate JSA is in the sign off pouch. Inspect the area around where the crane is currently positioned for any oil spills from the crane. Step 2. Ensure that the wall mounted disconnect switch is in the "ON" position and turn the power switch to "ON" on the wall mounted control selector box. Ensure that the red warning light is strobing. Step 3. Using the remote control in the "OFF" position ensure that the crane does not start. Test both U & D buttons on the remote control to verify both 1st and 2nd positions of each button work correctly. Once both buttons have been tested release the "E-Stop" switch to the upward most position and turn the selector knob to the "ON" position. Turn the selector knob to the "START" position and release it back to the "ON" position. Step 4. Test the upper and lower limit switches by raising the crane to its highest position. Once the limit is reached and the crane stops, lower the crane hook to its lowest position. Once the lower limit reached bring the crane hook up to eye level. Step 5. Ensure that the crane hook swivels 360 degrees freely. Ensure the hook safety latch moves freely and returns to its closed position. Inspect the hook for any cracks, impressions, or any unusual wear. Slide the spring guides on the top of the hook assembly to ensure free movement. Verify the hook has the correct "1 TON" label mounted to the upper hook assembly and that it is legible. Step 6. Inspect the chain for any noticeable kinks, cracks or considerable wear. Using the crane hook as a handle guide the mobile trolley mount from one end of the bar stock area to the other and verify there is free movement. Step 7. Move the crane back to its original location within the bar stock area (to the left of the exit door) and bring the crane hook up to a safe location. Switch the remote selector to the off position and press the emergency stop button to the downward position. Turn the power switch on the wall mounted control selector box to the "OFF" position and sign the crane inspection sheet. Hang the remote on the control selector box.

Inspect the area around where the crane is currently positioned for any oil spills from the crane. Verify that the appropriate JSA is in the Fastenal cabinet with the remote control. Step 2. Using the remote control (found in the Fastenal cabinet in bin 70) in the "OFF" position ensure that the crane does not start. Start at the 1st speed initially and speed up to the 2nd speed. *NOTE* BEFORE REACHING THE LIMIT SWITCH REDUCE SPEED TO THE 1ST SPEED POSITION. Move the trolley in the opposite direction to the limit switch. While conducting this test make note of any sounds, or issues with trolley movement in either direction. Step 6. Move the crane back to its original location and bring the crane hook up to a safe location. *NOTE* DO NOT LEAVE THE CRANE POSITIONED IN FRONT OF THE CEILING MOUNTED UNIT HEATERS IF LEFT FOR TOO LONG THE HEATERS CAN WARP AND DAMAGE THE CRANE. Step 1. Ensure you are wearing the proper PPE (safety glasses/steel toe footwear) and that the warning notices are visible on the sides and on the front of the console. Verify that the appropriate JSA is on the main console. Inspect the area around where the crane is currently positioned for any oil spills from the crane. Step 2. Verify that the main console control switch is in the "OFF" position. Inspect the forks for any chips, cracks, or rust. Rotate the left fork up 90 degrees and shift it from side to side to ensure free movement of the fork then lower the fork down 90 degrees. Repeat with the right fork. Ensure that the forks are back in there original location on the rail. Step 5. Inspect the crane hook located in-between the forks and main console from the side of the main console. Inspect the hook for any cracks, impressions, or any unusual wear. Ensure the hook safety latch moves freely and returns to its closed position. Ensure that both cotter pins (on the outsides of the hook) are secure and in place. Verify the upper hook assembly is in good condition. Step 6. Release the brakes and position the forks into a pallet on the rack.
