Inspection Procedure

Visually inspect the unit for obvious signs of leakage, flag or fail this PM depending on severity of the issure
If unit is running, listen for any abnormal noises
Check that the lubricant oil level of the gears and bearings reaches half of the oil sight glass (see picture above). Refill as needed.
Check oil conditions, when dark or cloudy, the oil has become contaminated and must be replaced. If this condition is present, flag this PM and enter a work order to replace the oil.
Note: If oil topping is frequent the internal seals may need checked as they could be worn
Check the oil level viewer of the seal on the shaft. If the pump is cold, only 1/4 full is max, with a hot pump 3/4 full is max
A reduction in the oil level in the viewer may indicate that the seals on the shafts are damaged (see picture 2 above for more details
